If you request a home visit, it’s advisable to confine your cat to one room with limited hiding spaces. Some form of examination surface (table/kitchen work top) and good lighting is required.
Routine home visits are scheduled midmorning or mid-afternoon and should be booked several days in advance if possible. Home visits are not applicable if your cat has an urgent or life threatening problem it’s much better in these cases to go straight to a vet clinic as quickly as possible (always telephone first). The veterinary surgeon cannot provide all the necessary emergency equipment on a home visit and valuable time may be lost.
However we are normally able to find an appropriate location in every home. We make use of kitchen counters, dining room tables, the living room rug or even your pet’s favorite location. We are very adaptable. All we need is a patient and some light. We have the rest.

A. Over the years we have found cats in some very unusual places such as on top of the refrigerator, inside of the mattress and in the radiator. If you think that your cat might hide we recommend placing your cat inside the bathroom shortly before we get there. In a small space like that, they do not attempt to run and get away from us and they tolerate their physical examination very easily.
