What to Expect During At-Home Euthanasia

When our veterinarian arrives, they will take the time to explain the entire process based on your comfort level and interest. Everything will be done at a pace that feels right for both you and your pet. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions at any point—we are here to support you every step of the way.

To ensure your pet remains completely calm and pain-free, we begin by administering a gentle sedative that also includes pain relief. This is given through a tiny needle prick and helps your pet relax into a peaceful sleep. Our vet will carefully guide you through what happens next, allowing you to be as involved as you wish.

Once you and your pet are ready, the final medication will be administered, ensuring a smooth and peaceful passing in the comfort of home. If you would like, you can hold your pet, sit beside them, or simply be present—whatever feels right for you.

Afterward, you are welcome to take as much time as you need to say goodbye. We will provide compassionate guidance on aftercare options, whether you choose private cremation or another arrangement that feels right for you.

This is an incredibly emotional time, and we want you to know that you are not alone. If you need any guidance or support in making this decision, please reach out—we are here for you.
